Friday!
Aaaand another work week completed. Learned some new stuff at work, complete with new responsibilities, so that’s exciting.
Talked with Pyrese for a bit, just before he boarded the plane to Colorado. The interviews went well! Now we just wait until he hears from them either way. O_O
Weight this morning on bathroom scale: 146.5 (flatterer!)
Calories so far: 25 Emergen-C, 160 oatmeal lunch – total: 185. Yes, I’ll eat more =P
Distance walked: 0.93m morning break, 2.41m lunch break, and .54m afternoon break for a total of 3.88m (took a short afternoon break today)
Resistance training: Completed! Did 2 sets of 8 for each!
Brough-ha-ha!
Aaaah, what a day. The new specialist is picking stuff up! I even left her on her own today, which means that I’m waaaaay on top of my work. Ahead, even! (Ok, so if I hadn’t been training, this week at work STILL would have been boring.)
I’m going to be using this journal to not only post my almighty proclamation but also to keep track of amount of exercise/weight loss/calories I eat. Most of it will start tomorrow, because I didn’t keep as much track as I usually do. Ha! The reason for this tracking? I now walk anywhere from 2-4 miles a day 5 days a week (up from no physical activity at all). I’ve cut out all sodas, drinking primarily water. I’ve also cut the amount of food I’ve eaten by at least 1/2. Anywho, I started all of this about 6 months ago. I’ve dropped…0 pounds. Nada. Zilch. Zippo. Now, I’ve just started back up on my thyroid medication (hypothyroidism), so that may be what finally gets me on my way. At any rate, it’ll make me feel more productive.
I’ve also started playing WoW again! That’s right, the warlock is back! I’m working on getting gold atm. I was initially just going to re-roll, but…yeah, I’m attached. (Though perhaps I’ll switch…I’m quite a bit better on my other toons. But I love the warlock! Angst!)
This week has been quite fun, yet stressful. Took Wookie to the vet (stressful), but learned that the sporadic limp in his hind leg is caused by his right knee. Apparently I have one of the rare cats that has a knee joint that pops out. I now can say that I can put a cat’s leg back into position. Yay? But it’s better than some other complication, and if it gets too bad there’s a simple surgery that can be done.
On top of that, I took Pyrese to the airport yesterday! He went to Washington to interview for an internship with Microsoft. The interview was all day today (is? It’s just after 7 there, lol). Praying that it all works out. He’s smart and definitely qualified.
Tomorrow’s just work. I’m going to run by the Reebok outlet and see if they have their new shape up shoes. (Hey, it’s worth a shot, right? I want a sexy butt!
Anywho, that’s about it for today. Someday this blog might actually be interesting. It’ll be a miracle!
Weight: I dunno, didn’t weigh today – 149.5 at the doctor’s office last week, though my scale will probably differ drastically.
Amount walked: 3.91 miles (.82 on morning break, 2.32 lunch break, .77 afternoon break – yay pedometer!)
Resistance training: nope, not today =(
Calories: 0 at breakfast (yes, I skipped), 160 at lunch, ~1200 afternoon snack + dinner = ~1360 for the day
Ciao!
A normal day
Aaaah, the thrills of training a new specialist: the fear that you’ll teach them incorrectly, the fear that you’ll tell them something wrong, and the wondering if they’ll actually catch on. All of this coupled with only being able to do your OWN work for a couple of hours today. Ah well. I think she IS catching on, but sometimes I wonder. There’s so many intricacies and details she will have to keep up with, and I’m afraid of overwhelming her. Can I get a raise? (An actual raise, where I end up getting paid MORE on payday.)
But enough of that! Work is boring enough for me. Shouldn’t shove too much of it on my poor, poor readers.
Winning line of the day: I wish I could say I’m PMSing, but since I can’t do that anymore, I guess I’ll just say I’m being a bitch.
Mom is awesome.
Not much else going on, really. The day truly has been uneventful. Don’t worry, once I’m actually doing my own work, there shall be plenty of interesting phone calls to share (details changed, of course, to protect privacy =P)
Keeping track…
Well, here I am again, posting on a blog I largely ignore and hardly anyone notices.
I’m still working as a temp agent; however, I’m now on a “long-term” job. It’s been interesting, to say the least. I’ve definitely “moved up” in the company, though it’s worth noting that nothing but more responsibilities comes with that. It started as a 40 hour job, but we’ve since had our hours cut to 37. The business I’m leased to is a company that runs contract jobs for various government departments. As a result, when the government gave out a “living wage” raise, we were awarded a small raise as well. Sadly, though all of management talks about how lucky we were to get a raise, I don’t think anyone else has noticed that we’re still making less.
But it’s a job, and it’s definitely a better job than the water company. I’ve definitely learned a lot about child support (the contract job I’m working at is run for the Texas Attorney General’s office). I’ve also learned that a lot of owners of small business don’t actually want to do the things that come with that position. Ah well, who actually wants to work? Ha!
I’m really excited, though, because the company is paying for my health insurance through the temporary agency. (Lord, this stuff gets complicated on who does what with whom) As a result, I have an appointment on Friday. I’ll hopefully be able to get back on my thyroid medication.
I know the thyroid is definitely back into the “way out of whack” range. I’ve cut out all sodas, drink mostly water with a cup of juice now and then. I’ve cut calories by far. I now usually walk over 2 miles a day (a little different for the next couple of weeks, since we’re allowed to work 40 hours this week…so weird). I started this all about…4-5 months ago, at least. I haven’t dropped a pound. So yeah, I’m hoping it’s the thyroid.
I hope to start writing more. There always seems to be something that takes up the day. I have so many things I want to fit into the day, but outside of work I have horrible time management, I guess. However, I’m going to try to be better.
And with that, I bid thee farewell, at least for tonight.
A cat’s happiness
Back in July, I packed up my things, cancelled my apartment’s lease, and moved back home to my parents’ house. The economy was horrible, and I flat out couldn’t afford my apartment anymore with no temporary work or permanent jobs out there. (Yeah…this whole “bad economy” thing? It’s been hitting Waco since September of 2007 – the housing market crash hit it hard). This move included my cat, Wookie.
Understand, Wookie has always been a…mischievous cat. But he’s also been inherently sweet and generally good-tempered. When we got him to the house, and since then, he has been relatively angry and bad-tempered. He hissed at everything, growled when he was eating and someone came near him, etc.
Well…today Mom and I were out getting groceries. She walked down an aisle to pick up some cat litter, and I had a thought. At the apartment, I bought Wookie treats and gave them to him twice a day. So I checked to see if they had the kind he liked. They did, and I bought him.
^_^
I do believe my cat is back. He’s been pretty happy since then. Who knew?
(Edit: This is the lost post! Thanks sis!)
Blech
I’ve been trying to keep from catching my coworker’s cold for a couple of weeks now. I think my immune system is finally losing that battle.
Sooooo congested. How can that much stuff POSSIBLY fit in my nose? Blech. I swear, if I sneeze any more today…
18 minutes and counting (as of title creation)
Sometimes the work day takes so long. Especially when there’s nothing to do. It’s saved my life, but there’s only so many rounds of online sudoku that one can stand before contemplating doing something drastic to break the monotony.
I’m a temporary agent right now, working at a small corporation in a town that you could easily miss as you drive down the road. I’m not even sure how it qualifies as a town.
At first, this job was veeeery stressful. Billing issues and a few months of bad customer service before I arrived created a volatile situation. The phone was ringing off the hook with angry callers. I almost asked my agency to pull me out several times. Well, there was a management change, issues slowly worked themselves out, I finished all my projects, and, for whatever reason (I can’t complain, really), my contract keeps getting renewed. So I am essentially paid to sit here and make small talk now and then, while helping the odd customer that walks in or calls (maybe 3-4 a day on each).
So now I have one more thing to do! Type out blog entries, lol.
Hmmm. Yes.
Seeing as how a person whom I moderately care for uses this site in addition to my being vastly bored in my current place of work, I suppose I shall use this blog to write down, well, whatever the heck I want to. I promise random, irregular posts that may or may not have anything of any value written in them. Other than that, you’re on your own. If I write anything resembling “emo” posts, please don’t hesitate to take me out of your misery. The joy of destroying you shall at least cheer me up somewhat, yes?
