Discouraged.

Bleh. Swimsuit shopping sucks. Too big to fit in the regular swimsuits at Target. Too small to fit in the plus size swimsuits at Target. Same story everywhere else. I’ve been exercising almost daily (missing 1-2 days over a month period). I’ve been doing the 30DS pretty consistently. I’ve lost…2 pounds. An inch or two here and there. It’s very frustrating.

It’s just about time to go see the doctor about the thyroid again, however. Time to tell her, again, that the medicine is doing DIDDLY SQUAT. Weight problems? Still there. My hair? Still falling out in handfuls (thankfully, it grows pretty fast, so I’m not bald). Skin’s still dry. Still…uh…constipated. We checked it 6 months ago, and she put me on the 50 dose (it’s micrograms or some nonsense like that). 3 months ago, she was SURE the medicine was working, and I was just crazy (wth?). The numbers hadn’t budged. So she upped the dose. Maybe it’s still not the right dose. I dunno.

Can’t give up though. I jogged at work today on all breaks. I also completed level 2 of the 30 day shred. Next week we start going back to 40 hours permanently. For these past two optional weeks, I’ve just cut my lunch break to 30 minutes. When it switches next week to permanent, I’m going to take an hour lunch and just leave later. I’m going to try to jog for 35-40 minutes during lunch, if I can manage it (might have to work my way up to it slowly). I’ve even bought clothes to exercise in at work, so I don’t stink the whole place up afterwords.

Someday the plateau’s gonna break. Someday I’m going to exercise and lose weight, rather than exercise to prevent gaining weight. Because eating 1300-1500 calories a day and exercising every day should yield results. More than what I’ve gotten, anyways. Someday, I’m going to lose the weight. Just watch me.

May 26th!

May 26, 2010 at 6:12 pm (Exercise!, May Fitness)

Whew! Level 2 30DS completed for the day! It’s finally starting to not completely and totally kill me, while still feeling like a workout. Moving up to unmodified level 2 is next!

I had an interesting experience at work today. After jogging during my lunch break, I went into the break room to drink water (good idea to do in 90 degree weather after jogging, no?). A co-worker (albeit a normally-snarky co-worker) comes in and asks me if I’ve been walking again. For whatever reason, walking on my  breaks has annoyed her in the past. She SAID it was because of my allergies, and I’d cough a bit about a half hour later (not loud, not obnoxious, just clearing my throat maybe once every 10 minutes or so). Well, I started taking zyrtec otc, so now she won’t be bothered. Anyways, I told her that no, I hadn’t been walking. I’d been jogging.

“You just don’t get it do you?”

Whaaaaat? I think my facial expression must have conveyed that exact reaction, because she then tells me, “Have you ever heard the phrase…oh you probably, haven’t. You’re an American.” I don’t know what the phrase is because she then couldn’t remember it. But…whaaaaaaaat? Why in the world does she think it’s her business? Wouldn’t someone who’s immigrated to this country and has certain ideas of “Those Americans” find an American out running and exercising to be a refreshing diversion from the “Those FAT Americans” stereotype?

I dunno. She always tries to classify me into a stereotype. She seems to greatly dislike the idea that I exercise (she has even when I was just walking). I dunno, she’s weird. (It might also be important to note that she especially dislikes my activity when I get more responsibilities from management.)

I am also in DESPERATE need of a sports bra. At home when I do the shred, I wear an old t-shirt bra with a shelf bra over it. Not the best, but it’s been good enough for that. However, I can’t even do that while jogging at work. I’ve been jogging in my normal bras. Which have underwires. Which–tmi warning–have rubbed blisters into delicate areas. >.> Well, I don’t have the time to go shopping yet, so I had a brilliant idea. Bandaids + new shoes = no blisters. So bandaids + non-sports bras = no blisters, right? Right. Except I seem to be sensitive to the adhesive on the bandaids. So now I have blistered, itchy boobs. Yaaaaaaaay!

Memorial Day. Gonna buy sports bras on Memorial Day.

I’m alive! Really!

May 26, 2010 at 5:25 am (Exercise!, May Fitness)

Ok, so Sunday was a day of rest. ^.^ Monday I completed level 1 30DS in the AM and jogged at work. I didn’t exercise in the PM because I was helping get the house ready for guests and all that. Yesterday my allergies were trying to kill me. However, I jogged at work anyways and then completed level 2 30DS in the PM.

I’m thinking that I need to stop working out at 4:30 am completely. I’m getting exceedingly tired, and approximately 6 hours of sleep a night is not helping. The body needs rest too. I think if I jog at work and complete the shred in the PM, that should be sufficient.

So we’ll see how it all goes. =)

Measurements!

May 22, 2010 at 10:13 am (Exercise!, May Fitness)

Here’s the measurements for this week!

Weight: 148.8 pounds (-0.2 lbs)

Bust: 39 (-1 inch)

Waist: 32 (-1 inch)

Hips: 39.5 (-0.5 inch)

Thighs: 20.5 (each) (-0.5 inch each)

I’m pretty pleased with the results. Progress seems a little slow, but it IS that wonderful time of the month. The inch on the waist is exciting! =)

Goals for the week:

1. Continue getting up to do level 1 shred in the am on weekdays

2. Continue working on level 2 of the shred – building up to unmodified exercises by Friday

3. Begin jogging at work instead of walking

This is a great time to start jogging at work, since I only have 30 minute lunches this week. Between that and the two 15 minute breaks, I should be able to ease myself into jogging. Should be fun!

Blogging daily is harder than exercising daily!

May 22, 2010 at 9:18 am (Exercise!, May Fitness)

It is! And yesterday was such a momentous occasion in my exercise life! You see, yesterday, instead of walking on my breaks, I switched to jogging. It was actually…fun. I had tried it before (waaaay before I started shredding), and I didn’t have the stamina or the lung power to do it. But shredding has built up both, so it wasn’t horrible. I have discovered new muscles in my ankles though, lol.

Yesterday’s exercise also included level 2 of the 30 day shred. I  had skipped Thursday afternoon due to my knee randomly bugging me. Friday morning I didn’t do level 1 in the AM because I had to clean up cat poop and I don’t give myself any wiggle room in my morning schedule for doing something OTHER than exercise and getting ready for work. Getting up earlier than 4:30 am is NOT happening.

Today’s shredding was blocked by the fact that my boyfriend is sleeping on the couch currently (For those wondering, there are 3 reasons. 1: I live at my parents’ house. 2. I have a twin, and I’m a bed hog. 3. I’m a bit of a prude myself regarding that before marriage, but he loves me despite that.) However, I did not let that keep me from working out. I jogged for a mile (which was haaaard! I’m sure I’ll get better!). After that I did 25 regular crunches, 25 of the lower ab crunches where you raise your tush in the air, and 50 of the oblique crunches – 25 on each side. Measurements to come shortly. =)

May 19!

May 20, 2010 at 5:19 am (Daily Ramblings, Exercise!, May Fitness)

Oops!

Things have been CRAZY here. Super crazy. Yesterday’s exercise was completed, I promise (check twitter! I did!). The only part I missed was the lunch break walk. I changed my schedule to work later, so I could have an hour break (just for yesterday). However, that was only so I could go to lunch with Pyrese, who came and met me for lunch. :)

Life’s a little insane right now. House is mid-repairs, and the bad weather last weekend managed to get the rain up under the tarp somehow…and I didn’t notice. So the water had plenty of time to soak in the ceiling, with no one the wiser. And then…yeah. Dining room ceiling is on the dining room floor. Ugh. And then we found out the floor there is rotting through.

Blah.

But we’re working on fixing it, slowly but surely. I’ll probably be moving out, if I get this promotion/get hired at the end of the summer. That’ll be a help to Mom and Dad, so it should get better. I hope to help with repairs throughout the summer. Dad’s just…getting too old to do it by himself, and they can’t afford to pay someone to do it. I just hope we manage to finish most of the repairs this summer.

I guess that’s enough being moody, though. Everything will turn out ok. Just…have to keep going.

Exercise is going well (just finished this AM’s 30 day shred). Hopefully it’s a good day waiting for me today. =)

May 18

May 18, 2010 at 7:24 pm (Exercise!, May Fitness)

Due to circumstances out of my control, this morning’s exercise did not occur. I’ll go into that drama at a later time in a daily post. Walked on my two 15 minute breaks at work, but not at lunch, since I only had a 1/2 hour (which will be standard the next two weeks while we’re working extra hours). I did, however, get in level 2 of the 30 day shred, so not a total loss.

Yay.

May 16!

May 16, 2010 at 10:00 am (Exercise!, May Fitness) (, )

Aaaaaaalmost skipped today. It’s supposed to be a day of rest, right? Eh? Ah well. Anyways, I’m glad I went ahead and completed the 30DS level 2, because I’m feeling great. Those plank twists still kill me. They’re going to do a lot more good once I can tough it out and do them all. Maybe I just won’t let myself stop tomorrow. >.>

Edit: I know what day it is. Really. It’s Sunday. =)

Stormy, stormy May 15

May 15, 2010 at 8:24 am (Exercise!, May Fitness)

This is going to be another short post (I think), since I’m hearing thunder start up again. Man, last night was wild, and nowhere near in a fun way! 6 cats, 2 dogs, 1 bird, and myself, all freaking out. Very violent thunderstorm. Fortunately the house is protected somewhat from winds from a large copse of trees around it (and they were protected by other trees, so no busting through the house). I only found one leak this morning (which I should have remembered last night, but oh well). Cleaned that mess up. It was still thundering, so the dogs stayed on the enclosed porch until they felt it was time to go play in the mud.

Exercise? Doesn’t freaking out burn a zillion calories? No? Well then. :) I completed level 2 of the 30 day shred. That’ll probably be it for today. The thought of sitting on the couch watching tv/reading a good book sounds MARVELOUS. Just the perfect day for it, and it’s not like I can go outside anyways.

Measurements!

Weight: 149lbs

Bust: 40in

Waist: 33in

Hips: 40in

Thighs: 21L/21R

So nothing on the bust, half an inch on the waist, another inch on the hips, and an inch on my left thigh. Woohoo!

I was actually nervous about taking my measurements today, since a certain time-of-the-month should be starting…uh…today. I’ve usually gained a few pounds at this point, so I’m really excited about the numbers still going down.

Slow and steady!

May…what day is it? 14! And it’s Friday!

May 14, 2010 at 5:09 pm (Exercise!, May Fitness)

Well, did a pretty good job today, all things considered. Managed to get the AM and PM 30 Day Shreds in (lvl 1 and 2 respectively). I only walked 0.87 miles today (morning break). It was kind of raining. In sheets. With lightning. So yeah, that didn’t happen once it got into full swing.

Not gonna be a long post today. I’m going to head up to a cousin’s for drinks and a movie! Won’t drink too much, promise!
